Network-Attached Storage

Virtual Disk with up to 34 Terabyte Capacity

The INFINISTORE VirtualDisk (IVD) has been specially developed to backup and archive data-intensive applications such as DMS, SAP R/3, CAD/CAM, audio and video applications. As a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device it is generated for the user as a logical hard disk drive and permits the integration of all applications which can write to a hard disk. The IVD software features HSM functionality for automated file migration from the hard disk to the internal tapes in accordance with pre-defined criteria. Thus files not frequently accessed or not requiring fast response time can be stored on less expensive tapes (e.g. email files). When necessary the user can access these virtual disk files.

The INFINISTORE VirtualDisk combines a media changer in a compact housing with up to 16 Sony AIT drives, up to 340 media cartridges, scalable RAID-5 arrays, a Windows NT system and the IVD Storage Management Software.

INFINISTORE TapeLibrary

The INFINISTORE VirtualDisk is also available without RAID-5 hard disks as the INFINISTORE TapeLibrary. In order to protect investments the library can easily be upgraded to the high-end INFINISTORE VirtualDisk storage system.
