Any Symmetrix system at microcode version 5X63 or higher. Note: 5266 microcode is required for some advanced capabilities.

Configuration Guidelines
- Non-SRDF installations: maximum of three active copies per production volume
- SRDF installations: maximum of three active copies per source volume and three per target volume
- Limit of one active BCV for each production volume per Symmetrix
- A BCV can be assigned or reassigned to any production volume provided no other active BCV mirror exists for that volume
- The production volume must be protected by an existing mirror (RAID 1), EMC RAID-S, or SRDF. The production volume and the BCV must have the same track geometry and an equal number of cylinders
